Great seeing new restaurants pop up in Vallejo! 88 BaoBao is a nice casual, sit down restaurant serving up different types of dimsum and other dishes. The chicken fried rice was yummy, but the chicken in the dish lacked in flavor. The cucumber salad tasted like something was missing in the flavor. However, the cucumber was crisp and refreshing on a hot day. The pork Xiaolongbao was definitely a highlight. The broth and the filling were flavorful which tasted great with the sauce. Overall, I had a good experience at 88BaoBao! Love trying new local food places.

Solid solid dumpling spot. Stopped here in our drive up north & it was the perfect stop. Service is quick & the food was very fresh & satisfying. Our favorite was the fried pork & shrimp dumpling, it was super juicy & hot, so yummy. The veggie steamed dumplings were super fresh and had great flavor. Would definitely come back here if I'm in the area again.

Third time back. Had the beef roll and Pork Xiao Long Bao. Everything I'd delicious. I like the sweetness of the wrap on Beef roll. Added garlic sauce for a nice extra flavor. The Pork Bao has a little soup flavored broth inside. Ate first one full on, pretty hot. Drained next 2 in a bowl and drank broth after eating. Very good. I plan on making my way through menu a couple items at a time.

Honestly the soup dumpling (had crab one) is on par with if not slightly better than Din Ding's in Union City. The real steal is the wontons in chili oil; the flavor of that chili oil is one of the best I've tasted (not painfully spicy and may not be spicy enough for spice lovers BUT the flavor is fantastic and it'll be spicy enough for the average person). Green beans were nice and garlicky albeit too salty but overall a great place to eat some Asian food! As another reviewer said; hidden gem.

First time supporting this new spot. Omg, Pan fried pork buns are a must try in their menu. You won't regret it. I ordered via DoorDash and it arrived hot in temperature with the side sauces. I look forward to dining in the restaurant next time. Also very reasonably priced. 5 star!

Didn't know they opened one of these in Vallejo. I think it's a good spot for decent XLB and it wasn't busy this time on a Friday night or the times we have gone to the Dublin location. The food: Recommended - Pork XLB - we usually just go with this - the OG XLB. Skin is a little on the thick side, but no breakage in any of our two orders. Slightly sweet and lots of broth. Traditionally eaten with vinegar. I did try the garlic sauce, but it just tasted like sweet diluted soy sauce to me. Shrimp Chow Mein - surprising tasty with wok hei. Decent amount of tender shrimp. Good filler - Sautéed Garlic Green Beans - green beans, oil, garlic, and salt. I think these are just stir fried as they are less shriveled than at most Cantonese restaurants Cucumber Salad - every restaurant does these differently. This one is pretty mild - sweet, soy, garlic. Hard to complain or get excited about this one. We spiked ours with a little chili sauce. Shaomai - what equates to a double order in size and price from a dim sum restaurant Not recommended - Pan Fried Pork Bun - the last time we tried this, I said "never again!" Yet this time we looked at the picture, and we're like "that looks pretty good!" Don't be fooled. They look pan fried and tasty, but the exterior is a bit hard. Filling is sweet and it's just way too different from my expectations. What I wish we ordered - Saw a couple other patrons get the popcorn chicken. That looked pretty good. I didn't get to try it, but I have rarely met a molten lava bun I didn't like. They have a black and gold one here.

So glad they opened one out here in Vallejo to try out :) it is located in one of the busier plazas of Vallejo so traffic can be a bit of a concern around the parking lot. The inside is super small, the biggest table only has 4 seats, could possibly seat five. There isn't a lot of room inside really and it does get busy but not impossible to find a table to dine in! I would suggest possibly calling or checking in with a slight waiting time expectation! Otherwise, you could probably grab the food to go and eat outside or at a park nearby. Warm and busy vibes inside, perfect for an active lunch or dinner! The service was decent, food came out fast. The tables weren't really cleaned up too well so we had to wipe it down a little bit, and the staff usually is more casual so they probably will drop the food and leave you to your meal. I think the food always tastes pretty good across the multiple locations nearby. Personally my favorites include the soup dumplings and the molten lava buns! Their other common order foods are still really yummy though! Otherwise, would drop by if you're looking for good shareable food!

3/28/24 A pleasant meal today with my sweetheart. Out first time back to this area since the Covid plague and it is nice to see the new stores that have opened. This includes 88 Bao Bao. Some photos and notes from our visit for your perusal. PHOTO #.... 1. An 11 mile drive plus bridge toll to get here. A modest looking shop in a nice strip mall area in Vallejo. Parking is fairly easy in the large parking lot. The Grand Entrance. 2. A small busy place, you order and pay at the counter before you take a number to place the table you choose. I have an aversion to crowds and lines and I almost did an about face. Glad I didn't. 3. We find a table next to a window where you can watch food prep. The kitchen and employees look clean and serious. Occasionally you see fire come up from frying food burning off alcohol. 4, 5. The Chicken Egg Fried rice arrives. We dig in so fast our forks are a blur. The food is hot. The chicken is moist. The rice has that deliciousness thing that makes your tongue scream for more. My wife liked it but thought it's a bit too oily. You tell me what you think. 6. Condiments are on the tables. The wife asked a server for salt which was not on the tables and he promptly brought some back from the kitchen. 7,8. Pork Xiaolong Bao arrives about twenty minutes after the fried rice. They are filled with piping hot meat and broth. Be careful not to eat before they cool down a bit. These are very delicious to me. The wife says she has had a little bit better in the Philippines. I had those in the Philippines as well and I say it's a toss up. You be the judge. 9,10. There is one - choose your own gender - - restroom in the back past the storage racks. It is well stocked and clean but for some bits tissue that need a broom. 11. If you have food left to take home, the restaurant wisely has stacked serve yourself To Go containers near the cashier. Pro Tip - There is no chili oil there so plan ahead. 12. We pretty much polished everything off and are satisfied. We are taking a container of rice home. 13. Two dishes and a coke for $33 plus bridge toll. I feel it was a bargain. Food was flavorful and hot, the place was clean, and I lost some of my aversion to lines and crowded spaces.

What a fantastic addition to Vallejo. I wasn't aware that this restaurant had opened, but while doing some shopping in the area 88 Bao Bao caught my eye. I did a quick Yelp search and I was pleased to see the positive reviews. I ordered the wontons in chili oil and BBQ pork buns. You order at the counter, and then given a number to put at your table. As I sat and waited for my food to arrive, I enjoyed being able to see the kitchen area and witness the buns and dumplings being made to order. The wontons were delicious! The tender dough and flavorful filling swimming in a lightly spicy chili oil is a must try. I hadn't eaten a pork bun in quite a few years, but their buns tasted slightly different than what I recalled. The dough was sweet with an almost cake like consistency. There wasn't much filling either. I wasn't a fan of the pork buns, but I will definitely be returning for more wontons and to try the other dumplings on the menu.
